Scenario
A group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying form of life in space while cleaning up the deep reaches of an abandoned space station. See how the Alien movies rank according to IMDb user ratings. Director Fede Alvarez recruited the special effects crew from Alien 2 (1986) to work on these creatures. Physical sets, practical creatures and miniatures were used wherever possible to help ground the later VFX work. When Rain shuts down the ship’s gravity and shoots all the aliens, all their blood floats in the air in long blur-like patterns. . Zero gravity in real life causes liquids to form into spherical shapes, not spread out into long flat pieces like in the movie.

Andy: The solution for a claustrophobic astronaut is to give him more space. The fanfare of the 20th century studios freezes and changes ominously, as in Alien 3 (1992), leading to the film’s opening scene. The logo itself suffers a burst of static electricity and turns green. Appearing in Nerdrotic: The Acolyte: Force is Female CONFIRMED? Death of Theaters – Real BBC @MauLer @HeelvsBabyface (2024). At this point in 2024, there are more bad Alien movies than good. So something that pays homage to the original really intrigued me.
The opening scene was perfect
Visually, it’s a vintage "Alien/s" albeit with a modern sheen. It looks great, even spectacular, especially the space scenes. The main problem with the movie is that there is zero tension, no sense of dread and it’s not scary except for the last few scenes which I enjoyed. The film tries to force tension and intensity with another device to render the alien – the equivalent of a bomb timer countdown. It doesn’t work because it outnumbers the alien threat, they become inconvenient roadblocks. Face huggers have turned into annoying pests – something you can simply blast away. The aliens are cannon fodder and the actors seem to bump into them.

them. I didn’t realize they were being hunted. For example the sentinel cannon scene from Aliens referenced by this movie. But you don’t see the aliens dying in Aliens, you see them here, which makes them look weak. On a side note, this scene also reminded me of the Starwars prison corridor “boring conversation anyway”. Many scenes played out like a QuickTime event in a video game, with characters over-explaining and then narrating their actions: “I” ;ll do it by pressing the X key." It’s as if the audience needs to be told what they’re watching and why they should feel scared or tense because there’s no tension in the scene even though the alien is present. I am concerned about adding another law etc.
That’s the point of the monster
I don’t need to know how the alien works, it’s not scary if you know everything about the monster. They used this new law to get over some aliens, again it was like a scene from a video game. It really nails the alien aesthetic, it’s a fast paced film with video game level writing and characters. Kind of fun, but ultimately disposable. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about.
